Scroll Necklace Inspired by Proenza Schouler

As fashion progresses from season to season, it seems the statement necklace will always promise to make a healthy return at different times throughout the year. Looking back to Proenza Schouler's Fall 2011 collection, this victorian-like statement necklace can be easily welcomed into any wardrobe today through a trip to the hardware store and a free couple of hours.

You'll Need:
  • Wooden decorative mouldings (available at most hardware stores)
  • Rust Coat paint in your choice of colour (I used the brand Tremclad)
  • Paint Brush
  • Old chain necklace
  • Drill with small bit
  • Needle-nosed pliers
  • metal hoops

The first step is to paint the mouldings. Wait at least 3 hours to let your first coat dry completely before applying the second coat.

Next, drill holes at either end of the mouldings. Metal hoops or thin wire is required to join the mouldings to the chain. Position them evenly so they will hang at the same angle.

And there you have it, a home made statement statement necklace for less than $15.
