School's Out For Summer...

Thankfully, spring is here meaning that summer is almost here with us and I know that I definitely cannot wait. Being able to sleep in. Working more to actually be able to go shopping. Having the time to be able to read for fun. Like seriously. It's about time.

Thinking of summer gets me excited about the weather and the clothes but also about the time i'll get to have to relax, for a least a bit and not worry about the "crunch time" and due dates coming up in the next couple days.

By staying on track and positive from now till the end of exams, you will be able to focus and set up the right outlook for the season ahead.

When school is over and your summer officially starts your main concern won't be which class you're going to be late to, it'll be what time in the afternoon you decide to wake up and plan your day. It definitely cannot come soon enough!

A Glimpse Behind The Scenes at Antonio Valente

It's always an interesting experience to get a chance to get behind the scenes. Recently, a chance came up to check out what behind the scenes looked like at Antonio Valente. It brought to light how a men's tailored shirt came to be; from conception to reality.

Twin Style

My twin sister Rachel has pretty good style for a Laurier Poli-Sci student so here are some style snaps  of one trendy-casual outfit worn this weekend.

Stand Outs

I was doing some rearranging of jewelry at work and thought I would take advantage of all the glass and mirrored surfaces that make the jewels oh so pretty. Judging from these pieces I was in a go big or go home mood. I would hazard to guess we are all somewhat magpies. :)

HUGE cuffs on the left - that definitely means you need one for each wrist.

Oh to wear all of this turquoise at the same time.

On the left is what I call the Piano Keys Necklace and on the right even Jack is eyeing that bling.

Graduation

Graduation.

This June my little sister will be graduating from elementary school. After some shopping she found herself a dress for her grad and took the liberty in going through my closet to try on my heels, so I took the opportunity to take some photos. To be honest I thought she was going to go for something colourful or satiny or frilly, you know what I mean, but instead she chose this simple white one with cut outs on the side. I have to say I always knew my sister was growing up but I guess I never really realized just how much she's grown these past years.

Online Shopping for the Win

My roommate has an uncanny ability for finding great deals when it comes to online shopping.  The flow of parcels being delivered to our door is seemingly endless and I find myself wondering how in the heck can a fashion design student at Ryerson University possibly afford all of these new shoes and clothes and snowboard gear?  The answer is that Lana only ever pays what I like to call, "Lana's Retail Price," a very small fragment of the actual retail price.  Lana scours the clearance pages, does not limit herself to girls section, and signs up for e-newsletters to stay informed about upcoming sales, in order to find the Lana Retail Price.  Her favorite site to shop is karmaloop.com.  These are just a few of Lana's amazing finds from karmaloop and its' sister sites, plundr, and misskl.

Brand: Dylan Reider
Actual Retail Cost: $120 approx.
Lana's Retail Cost: $25

Happy internet shopping.

ZOFF

This shoot was intended for the second editorial piece, however as they can no longer be used, I thought I would post some of the unedited out-takes.
This past Friday Alex Goodrich and I shot some pieces from first year design student Michael Zoffranieri’s, ZOFF collection. The pieces produced by the first year reflects an undeviating gothic tone, with a dark colour palette and long lines, it reads as almost Addam’s Family Chic. Can you not imagine cousin IT draped in that last sheer black piece? Only to protect his luscious coat of hair of course. Regardless of the wearer, the beautiful collection by ZOFF speaks for itself.

This first image we had experimented with pantyhose over the lens to give a diffused appearance, but we later removed it for the rest of the shots.

Expose Those Toes

The weather is finally starting to get better and that has me excited for spring and summer shoes. We're not quite at sandal weather yet, but here are a few different styles that will get you looking forward to packing away those winter boots.

Spring has Sprung!

Fashion Students take a break in the Distillery District on St. Patricks day and enjoy the greenery!

So I thought it was appropriate to bust out my floral pants from Top Shop (even though I've been wearing them all winter long) and take some silly photos with @BY_MAXWELL ;)

Better late than never: The Wearable Art Show

I've had these images saved on my computer for quite some time now, and I feel like I should share the experience with everyone else.
All images were shot with ISO at 3800, F-Stop at 5.3 and shutter speed at 1/40. Realistically, I should have increased the shutter speed to let more light in, but here they are none the less!
Some of the designs creative and groundbreaking garments,  and I was thoroughly impressed with everyone who participated!

The Style of Andrea Tait

From the moment I met Andrea, I saw it; her ability to look effortlessly chic astounded me. Being tall, having gorgeous blue eyes and the bone structure of a model only helps her as well. Every outfit I see her in shows her attention to detail, right down to the shoes on her feet and full bangs that just reach the perfect length along her brow line. I knew I wanted to do a blog post on her after seeing the outfit, pictured here, that she wore to photography lab today. Sweet and put together, just like her personality.

Spice Up Your Collar

I am not a huge accessories person but I cannot get enough collar necklaces for the life of me. These necklaces are excellent for accentuating your outfit and are handy when it comes to providing that extra somethin' somethin'. I usually pair a collar necklace with a button-up to spice it up a little. When purchasing accessories, my heart is pretty set on the gold colour palette. These necklaces were purchased over a stretch of time from Urban Outfitters, Nasty Gal, and Blueprint for a pretty affordable price.

Lucian Matis FW

Lucian Matis

Last friday I had the amazing opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of the high-end fashion show of Lucian Matis.

The former Ryerson University student invited for a private show at the King One Hotel.
The opener and highlight of the show was the highly expected BAILEY's dress - the cream liquor brand paired up with Matis and created a dress made of hundreds of broken dark Bailey's glasses.
The line clearly showed his love for fancy shapes, which were also translated in hair and make-up.
Clean and very sophisticated was the hart of the collection, the beige turtleneck.
