World MasterCard Fashion Week: Ashtiani

This show marks designer Golnaz Ashtiani's fourth consecutive season at World MasterCard Fashion Week in Toronto. Ashtiani, a former graduate of London College of Fashion, brings a very modern aesthetic to Toronto's fashion scene. Her brand has been recognized by publications like Elle Canada and Flare, and is the 2011 winner of the TFI New Labels Competition. This season, Ashtiani brings us modern silhouettes with dynamic layering and historical influences. Her not so subtle use of vinyl leather adds a bit of kink to her classy-modern aesthetic. High-collared capes and baggy metallic sweatshirts scream  street wear in contrast to lady-like peplums and fur. Quilted knits and embossed textures lend variety to smooth features, a nice touch to her dark colour palette - a striking assortment of deep navies, burgundies, and olive greens.  Ashtiani has continued to refresh us with her take on Toronto fashion, and we thank her for it.
