Adjustment

This shoot was inspired by the grittiness of downtown Toronto. Playing with contrasting textures and backgrounds, these photographs tell the story of a young outcast. Locations were chosen for their bright bursts of colour and appealing textures which played nicely against the hard leathers, sheer plastics and furs. Model Maxwell Burnstein, photographer Jennylee Carriere.

Camera Shy

Last weekend, one of my best friends from my hometown/high school came up to visit for the weekend. I convinced him to stand in a few shots, since I've always been a fan of his casual/skater style. He proved to be a bit camera shy, but I still managed to snap a few good shots!

Bellies Everywhere

For those of you who don't know, I live a double life as a bellydancer, and the owner of my studio/my teacher asked me if I could photograph some of her costumes.

I did the shoot in the dance studio, using warm lighting to maintain that "exotic bellydancer vibe" (although, believe me, we're all hams), and two of my gorgeous troupe mates, Veronica and Laura, helped me out by modelling.

Photographing such beautiful costumes on bea-yoo-ti-ful gals made my job pretty easy.

STYLE ALERT : BLACK ON BLACK

Black is the go-to when it comes to pull an effortless look! is simple elegant and easy to style since it goes with EVERYTHING!

A lot of people fear on putting an ALL BLACK outfit thanks to it´s "flat and boring" look but there is some ways to pull this out.

TEXTURE

Combine any kind of texture leather , fur , velvet and your outfit will become exceptionally diverse avoiding the boring quality of a full color look

Here my dear friend Karina Park shows how versatile and fun combining textures can be specially when BLACK is the protagonist of the story.

Side Note: try BOLD colors for your lips this will give your outfit the final touch ! Karina has RUBY WOO from MAC a matte sultry red color that brings attention to the face despite the business of the outfit.

Painted Lips, So Fancy

Before I walk out the door in the morning the question I always ask myself is whether my outfit needs to be perked up. The best way to do this is by adding a bold lip. Lipstick has become the ultimate accessory to an outfit it is almost as important as the shoes we wear. In the photographs below you will see the wonderful effect three different versions of a bold lip has on an outfit. I chose to display the Blackberry Lip, Tomato Lip and of course the Hot Pink Lip.

Thank you to my Beautiful Model Stefanie Hyde.

Grunge-y

According to the insane 'rules' of vintage fashion if you have already lived though the era once, you're not allowed to re-wear the clothing once it comes back in style… So I'm not sure if I'm allowed to be wearing grunge or not…. (I did own a pair of Doc Martins at the age of 6). Hummm… ANYWAYS here is a homage to the 1990s.
